Fire Safe replacements

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

The Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017 raised many questions about fire safety in multi-storey, apartments and flats.

Does your building, your flat, or a building which you manage have balconies? Depending on how these are constructed, they present a potential source of rapid fire spread on the outside of buildings.

The government has called for building owners to remove combustible materials from balconies on residential buildings. Previously, balcony decking was constructed using timber or other combustible composite materials. During fire breakouts, these materials could quickly catch fire and spread rapidly. Consequently, non-combustible materials must be adopted in building design going forward to ensure safety.

FM Steel Services Ltd can carry out a thorough survey, remove and dispose of any combustible materials and reinstate with fire regulated materials including steel railings or the popular aluminium decking.
